40th Annual Hersh Herschman Memorial TAHOE CLASSIC 

Lake Tahoe’s premier doubles tournament

Thursday, August 1 – Sunday, August 4, 2024.

Join us for the Hersh Herschman Memorial Tahoe Classic at Zephyr Cove Tennis Club, run by the 501(c)(3) non-profit Zephyr Cove Tennis Club Foundation. The Tahoe Classic continues to benefit from the 30-year heritage established by Hersh.

Because of the growth of the Classic, all players should be prepared to play:

  • first round matches on Thursday and
  • until 8 pm on Thursday-Saturday and 4 pm on Sunday

DIVISIONS

USTA ratings are used as a guide for entry into divisions, but are not required. The tournament director reserves the right to reclassify all entrants.

Age Group Division (combined age)

120+, 140+ (these “coed” divisions can be either two men, two women, or mixed; these are OPEN divisions, usually with 4.0 and higher level players)

Women’s   10.0+, 9.0, 8.0, 7.0, 6.0

DATES and DETAILS

  • Registration will open on or about April 15, 2024.  
  • Divisions will be limited to 32 teams.

  • Please identify your partners when registering. You will need their USTA number, which you can locate at https://tennislink.usta.com/Leagues/Common/Home.aspx. You also may add a partner at a later date by following these instructions:  Inviting-a-Doubles-Partner-Accepting-a-Doubles-Partner
  • You need a USTA number and account, which are free, to register for the Classic. Get one here: www.account.usta.com/signup. You do not need a USTA annual membership.
  • Register by Thursday, July 18, 2024 at midnight; however, entries may be closed earlier due to court constraints. Divisions will be limited to 32 teams.
  • First round matches will be posted by Monday night, July 29, 2024, at midnight.
  • Next day’s match times will be posted around 9 pm each night.
  • If entering two events, be prepared to play up to four matches per day and back-to-back matches.
  • Participants are assured a minimum of 2 matches per division.
  • Check in with the tournament desk at least 30 minutes prior to EACH match time, ready to play. The ZCTC tournament desk is at the “Boston Red Sox” tent.
  • Defaults will be called 10 minutes after scheduled match time.
  • Report your scores to the tournament desk after your match.

SCORING

  • All matches (except 6.0 divisions and consolation matches) are two regular-scoring sets, with a 7-point Coman tiebreaker at 6-6 set score, and with a Coman 10-point super tiebreaker in lieu of a 3rd set.
  • 6.0 divisions and all consolation matches are two no-ad sets with receiver’s choice (including for mixed doubles) at 3-3 game score, with a 7-point Coman tiebreaker at 6-6 set score, and with a Coman 10-point super tiebreaker in lieu of a 3rd set.

FEES

  • $110.00 per player for the first event (includes shirt, cap, Thursday night pizza party, Friday night BBQ, and more!)
  • $60.00 per player for second event (two event maximum)
  • $40.00 per non-playing Friday night dinner guest (the dinner is included in the registration fee for players) (register dinner guests at https://www.zctennis.com/classic-guest-dinner-registration/)
